The context of the flyers is different for each one. We have designed two flyers to appeal to two different audiences. The first is aimed at appealing to the local Albuquerque residents. This demographic already lives in New Mexico, so obviously stating the state name was unnecessary. The local flyer goes into more detail on the information such as live salsa, and the hours of operation. The local flyer assumes that certain things are known already such as where and what Old Town is. This flyer might be found in a local newspaper, or at say a bus station.
The tourist flyer is much more simple. It does not state specifics such as the address. It does mention that it is located in “historic Old Town” assuming that the reader doesn’t know anything about Old Town, and obviously the state name is mentioned. The reader will also notice the luminarias at the bottom of the flyer to create curiosity, while at the same time representing New Mexican (and especially Old Town) culture. The purpose of the tourist flyer is to catch the attention of the reader so they would go search out more information on the website, whereas the purpose of the local flyer is to inform. The reader is sure to take a good look at the tourist flyer because there is so little information, yet just enough to generate interest. One might think, “What does Southwest Flavor actually taste like?” or “What are those paper bags at the bottom?” This flyer might be found on a tourism website or magazine for the state of New Mexico.
